Frequently asked questions.

Straightforward answers about using a reference currency converter.

What is a currency exchange rate?

It is the value of one currency expressed in another currency. For example, a USD/UGX quote describes how many Ugandan shillings correspond to one US dollar.

How often do rates change?

Rates can change frequently, but the provider may update reference data on its own schedule. Weekends, holidays, market hours, caching, and technical availability can affect timing.

Is GlobalConvert free?

The public conversion tools are designed to be free to use. GlobalConvert may support the service with advertising in the future, subject to consent and applicable policies.

Are the rates guaranteed?

No. Results are informational reference calculations. A bank, card issuer, exchange bureau, or transfer service may use a different rate and add fees.

Why does my bank show a different rate?

Banks and providers may include a spread, service charge, card fee, tax, or other cost. Compare the final amount received rather than only the displayed rate.

What is a mid-market rate?

It is a commonly used reference point between market buy and sell prices. It is useful for comparison but is not necessarily an executable consumer rate.

Can I use GlobalConvert for an international transfer?

Use it for planning and comparison, then complete the transaction with a regulated provider. Do not send passwords, card numbers, or banking credentials through this website.

Does GlobalConvert charge conversion fees?

GlobalConvert’s calculator does not itself complete a money transfer. Your bank, card provider, or transfer service may apply its own rates and fees.

How can I convert USD to UGX?

Open the converter, enter the amount, choose USD as From and UGX as To, then select Convert. Review the date and verify the final quote with your provider.

How can I convert UGX to USD?

Choose UGX as From and USD as To. The direction matters because the rate represents the value of the selected base currency.
